An independent look at DEGIRO's fees, features, and who it tends to suit - not a recommendation.
DEGIRO is a Netherlands-based broker known for low-cost access to stocks and ETFs across more than 50 exchanges worldwide. It restructured its fee model in October 2025 around a "Core Selection" of ETFs available at a low flat handling fee on the Tradegate exchange.
| Stock commission | €2-4.90 per trade, varies by exchange |
|---|---|
| ETF commission (Core Selection, Tradegate) | €1 handling fee |
| ETF commission (other exchanges) | €3 per trade |
| FX fee | 0.25% |
| Custody / inactivity fee | €0 |
| Connectivity fee | €2.50/year per exchange (non-Tradegate ETFs) |
DEGIRO offers access to stocks and ETFs across a very wide range of international exchanges. Its Core Selection includes over 1,000 ETFs tradable on Tradegate at a flat €1 handling fee, making it one of the lower-cost options for ETF-focused, buy-and-hold investors who stick to that selection.
DEGIRO does not offer fractional shares. Every purchase is for a whole share or ETF unit, which can matter if you're investing small, fixed amounts each month into a higher-priced stock or fund.
DEGIRO does not currently offer an automated savings plan or auto-invest feature - trades are placed manually.
DEGIRO is regulated by the Dutch Authority for the Financial Markets (AFM) and De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB). It operates through flatexDEGIRO Bank AG, which is supervised by Germany's BaFin.
DEGIRO tends to suit investors who want broad international market access and are comfortable buying whole shares/units, particularly those focused on Core Selection ETFs where the per-trade cost is low. It may suit less well those who want to invest small, fixed euro amounts automatically each month.
How much does DEGIRO charge for ETFs?

Is DEGIRO regulated?
